SUMMARY

Sprays surfaces of machines and manufactured parts with primer, pre-finish and finish coats of paint by performing the following duties.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Observes and adjusts valves and gauges to regulate width and pressure of spray.
  • Applies prime or finish coat.
  • Cleans paint from ceiling and walls of booth, conveyor hooks or grid, and from disks, cones, spray heads and hoses.
  • Applies masking tape over parts and areas that are not to be coated.
  • Cleans grease and dirt from product.
  • Cleans spraying equipment. Solvent with a greater than 100 degree Fahrenheit flash point must be used.
  • Seals and prepares waste containers with designated painters’ labels.
  • Works in a safe manner at all times, following all safety guidelines.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

6 months – 1 year of related experience or training preferred.

COMMUNICATION SKILLS

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both over the phone and in person.  Ability to read, write and comprehend documents and correspondence. Ability to effectively present information to internal and external individuals and groups. Ability to display active listening skills and ask the appropriate questions. 

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee will regular be exposed to moving mechanical parts and fumes or airborne particles.  The employee is occasionally exposed to vibration.  The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, outside weather conditions.  The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
